PERSONALITY
SUPERBIA might sometimes operate on logic beyond that of inferior organic minds, but its judgement is never wrong. WHAT MAKES SUPERBIA THINK YOUR CHARACTER IS PRIVATEER MATERIAL? (Powerful martial abilities? Sheer ambitious vision? An ability to make a mean egg salad sandwich?)

Because she's Commander Shepard.
I'm kidding. I'm kidding.
A powerful biotic, an experienced military commander, captain of a Very Fine Ship, there's a lot of reasons why someone like Shepard would seem like the ideal candidate for a mission like this.
Plus she really, really wants to find Fortuna. She's desperate for it actually. Desperation makes for a powerful reason all on it's own, doesn't it? From becoming the first Human Spectre to stopping a Reaper not once, but twice. To fighting a Thresher Maw on foot. Multiple times. Doing the improbable or seemingly impossible is basically her whole career at this point. It's what she does.

Fortuna is always described as being capable of granting any wish, but its exact nature is unknown. DEEP DOWN, WHAT DOES YOUR CHARACTER WANT IT TO BE THE MOST? (examples: an impossibly powerful weapon, a beautiful natural wonder, a cool giant robot.)

Look, as long as it's not three beams of light and a weird looking kid she doesn't really care what it looks like. Kidding again, that's from after her canon point, she doesn't know anything about the ending of ME3.
But maybe it's some sort of super powerful AI or something? It'd kind of fit with how her life's been going for the last few years at least.

SUPERBIA only desires to prove the existence of the Lucky Star; its privateers are free to do whatever they want with it. IF YOUR CHARACTER GOT THE TREASURE, WHAT WOULD YOUR CHARACTER DO WITH IT? WHY DO THEY WANT TO FIND IT?

Shep only has one real goal right now and that's to defeat the Reapers and save her galaxy from being harvested like the cycles before them have been. That's it. Fortuna is her Hail Mary attempt to destroy the Reapers once and for all.

Treasure-hunting is not for the weak of heart. WHAT IS YOUR CHARACTER WILLING TO RISK, AND WHAT ARE THEY WILLING TO SACRIFICE?

What isn't she willing to surrender? Ultimately, if it keeps her Galaxy safe she'd sacrifice her life without hesitation. Maybe not so much her morals or the lives of other people, but... her own life? Zero hesitation.
POWERS AND ABILITIES
Shepard is a Biotic. Technically by gameplay mechanics she's a Vanguard class. Basically, she's a Space Sorcerer - Someone with a born-in access to a special ability.

Shepard can do a variety of things with this power. Lift other objects and herself, throw things or herself, create shock blasts and shock waves, and a variety of fun Space Magic that... got ignored in the plot, because what if you're playing a Soldier class or a Tech class? Basically telekinesis but with a cool blue glow.
Aside from that, she's very skilled with a variety of guns. Very unskilled at driving or piloting in any manner.

About
Ask five different people about Commander Shepard and you'll get five very different answers. She's a hero, she's a devil, she's larger than life, she's humanity's hope, she's... all sort of things. Whether she's actually all of those things is completely beside the point. Though if you asked Shepard herself, she'd say she's not much really. Just a soldier. Anyone else would have done the same thing in her boots..

A career soldier, Shep knew she wanted to serve from a young age and worked very hard succeed on her own merit. Hard work and determination very much key parts of who Shep is as a person. She's also incredibly stubborn, though she'd never agree to that. She's only an appropriate amount of firm. Possessing a strong sense of what she calls justice, Shepard has always been one to follow her own moral code before even the law. Luckily, the law is usually in alignment with her beliefs so that hasn't proved to be a huge stumbling block....so far.

Has a bit of a savior complex, especially after everything that's happened. Wants to help people and will, for the most part, bend over backwards to see that people get the help they need. Usually sacrificing her own wants and needs in the process. Bit of a people pleaser. Finds it hard to say no to people, but somehow manages to not be a doormat simply because a lot of people find her too intimidating to even try taking advantage of her. Probably a good thing, because despite all this she's quick to refuse aid if she finds something pointless or too much. Find the records for a struggling Salarian family? Absolutely! Go fetch a bottle of wine? Only for a member of her crew, because there's very little she wouldn't do for the people who serve on her ship. Crew isn't really just a crew, they're family. Which makes sense, when living in space is all you know.
Appearance
height 5'8|/172.72cm
build Lean muscle
hair Black
eyes Brown
first impressions Shepard's appearance is surprisingly deceptive. Her seemingly slim frame is actually packed with muscle. Looks slender, but can easily do close to 200 pull ups without even feeling it the next day. Also run for an unnaturally long time without tiring. Thanks Cerberus upgrades.

Can seem a little awkward at first, because she is career military and so there's a certain amount of military-life that just won't leave her no matter how much she might try otherwise. Shep'll never pass for a civilian. Not that she really tries to pass as anything else, usually leading with her rank and service, as she sees them as the biggest definers of who she is as a person.

features Lost most of what she'd call her defining features during the time Cerberus re-built her. Gone was the break in her nose from a fist fight she'd gotten into earlier in life. Gone were the scars she'd accumulated during the blitz and the rest of her service career.

What's left? Pale skin that's never seen a tan even for a single day even before she was rebuilt. Black hair worn in a short, sensible cut. Brown eyes that can be warm or as piercing as any bullet depending on her mood. Well shaped lips. Lips that are permanently tinted red - a small vanity from her youth that Cerberus let her keep apparently. Same as the narrow line of black outlining her eyes. Free will was apparently debatable, but her vanity was not. Thanks Miranda.

Favors dark colours and practical clothing. Black, red, blue. Hoodies and comfortable clothes when out of uniform. Not that she's usually out of uniform all that often. Absolutely the sort to wear a suit instead of wearing a dress. She tried once, flashed a room full of fellow cadets, and hasn't worn a skirt since. Not even for Kasumi.
Powers
Biotics
Shepard is a powerful biotic capable of manipulating mass effect fields to make a variety of effects happen.

And yet despite this, her favored method of combat is physically slingshotting her own body at the enemy and then slamming a massive shockwave of energy around her to do large amounts of damage very quickly. Aside from this she can pick people up off the ground, create shockwaves of energy, and a variety of other techniques. But charging directly at her enemies head on will always be her preferred method of combat.
Marksmanship
While Shepard is a powerful biotic, she's also a crack shot. As a member of the special forces, it only makes sense that she'd have more than one way to handle herself on the battlefield.

That said she finds Snipers too slow for regular use and shotguns are too bulky. Favors an assault rifle and a pistol, though Kasumi has talked her into using submachine guns more frequently as well. Could she actually beat Garrus in a snipe off? The Universe may never know.
Command
Never set out with the intention of being a Leader, but maybe that's part of why she's so good at it. Because it's not something she actually wanted.

Incredibly loyal to her crew, understanding, and would do anything for the people who follow her leadership. Often finds a way to bring out the best in people simply by believing in them even when they might not always believe in themselves. Very Kamina of her.
Driving
Might be the Captain of an incredible spaceship, but please don't let her get behind the wheel of anything. She's very... straight forward in how she approaches driving. Who cares if there's a cliff? Go over it. Why go around when her destination is right there? Incredibly reckless and has been banned from any sort of piloting duty by her crew for not only her own good, but their own good too. Rumor says she even managed to give Wrex motion sickness once. So yes, don't let her drive. Ever.

Service History
Mass Effect 1 Lost Jenkins on Eden Prime. Saves Kaidan from Prothean Beacon. Helps Garrus, Tali, and Wrex on citadel, but does not let Wrex kill Fist. Saved the Rachni Queen while also helping stop a corrupt businessman on Noveria. Foiled multiple Cerberus plots. Rescued the brainwashed colonists and freed Shiala on Feros. Saved Kaidan and Kirrahe on Virmire. Feels guilty for saving the guy she was in love with, but... look, he'd been working on the bomb and it was the bigger priority. She did what she had to do..... didn't she? Rescued the prisoners, letting Balak go on X57. Tried to persuade Saren to see that he was no longer himself. Chooses to sacrifice some of the Alliance fleet to save the Destiny's Ascension and the Citadel Council. Saren still dies anyway. But Sovereign is no more, so overall it's a win right?

Mass Effect 2 Gets blown up by Collectors. Does not stay dead, thanks Cerberus! Only good thing you've done as far as she can tell. Does not send Veetor'Nara to Cerberus, because fuck Cerberus. Reinstated as a Spectre, given that news of her death was... "grossly exaggerated". Council doesn't need to know she'd died died. Happily reunited with Garrus. Recruits Mordin, Zaeed, Kasumi, and Samara. Helps Kasumi get the black box back and then helps her destroy it and move on. Would have helped Zaeed with his revenge, but too many civilians were endangered, so saved lives instead. Zaeed loyal enough to understand. Saves Kal'Reeger on Maelstrom while reuniting with Tali. Recruits Samara and Thane. Encourages Mordin to destroy data on grounds of it being acquired through terrible means. Not worth it. Wakes up tank bred Krogan, accidentally adopts a son. Helps him kill a thresher maw. On foot. Very badass. Helps Thane save his son from going down the wrong path. Overall more Renegade than she used to be, simply because she's tired and things just don't feel right and she's not sure what to do so lashes out. Lots of nightmares. Absolutely needs a therapist. Does not have one. Outside of Kelly. Lets Garrus kill traitor, despite having tried to steer him clear of that sort of behavior while after Saren. Helps keep Miranda's cloned twin out of their father's hands. Helps Samara kill her killer daughter. Has very bittersweet reunion with Kaidan on Freedom's Progress. Tries to rally from spiraling depression and mental health problems. What would Kaidan Do is new motto. It's embarrassing, but actually helps. Let's Tali keep her dad's secret project a secret despite the backlash Tali receives. Destroys the Collector base, keeping it out of Cerberus hands. Saves almost entire crew in process from being goo-ified or worse. Everyone survives the suicide mission. Which, wasn't apparently that suicidal. Helped Liara defeat Shadow Broker. Rescued David and sent him to Grissom Academy. Warned Batarians during Arrival. Not that it helped any survive, but she tried. Despite general negative opinion on Batarians as a whole.

Mass Effect 3 Spends 6 months in a very cushy jail. Has lots of nightmares and insomnia despite cushy new jail life.. Players lots of cards with Vega. When Reapers invade, Shepard is sent to get help from council. But first Mars. Reunites with Liara. Watches helpless as a gynoid almost kills Kaidan. Takes the robot body and Kaidan with them as well as valuable intel. Council sucks. Doesn't want to help. Helps the entire universe with their problems. While visiting Kaidan and Thane often in the hospital. While still having severe insomnia and mental instability. Frequent nightmares. Helps save Grissom Academy students, sends them to do support work. They're babies. No war for them. Saved the Rachni Queen. Again. Seemed dumb to save her once and then just.. go "lol jk" and kill her the second time. Almost lost krogan son to infected rachni, but did not. Grunt's better than that. Good boy. Helps cure the genophage that's plaguing the Krogan. Not sure it's the right thing to do, but is the future's problem now. Thane dies stopping Kai Leng. Kaidan believes Shepard and no good guys die. Aside from Thane, but Thane was already dying anyway. Still sucks though. Persuades Kaidan to join her, needs the help. Also he's good for her stability. An anchor of paragon in a sea of chaos. Helped rescue ex-Cerberus scientists and sent them to work on Crucible project. Keeps Samara from committing suicide after the devastation at the ardat yakshi monastery. Galaxy needs Samara's strength. Doesn't blame her for wanting to die at this point. So very, very tired. Almost dies because of Quarian Admiral. Punches him. Very satisfying. Saves another Admiral. Literally goes toe to toe with a Reaper and survives wtf? Manages to broker peace and end a war that has gone on for... way, way too long. War Hero Shep strikes again.
